El Querandí

Dinner & Tango Show in San Telmo

Located in the heart of Buenos Aires’ historic quarters, El Querandí has one of the best gastronomic and tango proposals in the area. On the other hand, our restaurant in San Telmo is known for respecting with the utmost fidelity the magical atmosphere that characterized it in the early years of the 20th century, adding, of course, excellence in customer service, amazing regional dishes, and an authentic Argentinean tango show.

Our imprint, marked from beginning to end by tango –such a peerless cultural and musical expression– has a long tradition in the city. Our kitchen stands out for the quality of its ingredients and the peculiarity of its menu, which, of course, fits like a glove to this typical Mansion in San Telmo.

#1 Restaurant in San Telmo

Tango restaurant

The menu of El Querandí offers its guests the most exquisite Argentine specialties, from the unforgettable Bife de chorizo to the daring tasting of Argentine casseroles, passing through the typical northern humita or the surprising yerba mate tiramisù. We accompany the menu with a wine list that also aims to be a federative proposal of grape varieties and regions of our renowned Argentine wines.

For all these reasons, El Querandí is deeply proud to be considered one of the best restaurants in San Telmo, Capital Federal; precisely for offering more than good gastronomy.

El Querandí was carefully restored, zealously respecting its origins from the early 20th century, which meant maintaining its Art Deco façade, checkered floors, dark-toned boiserie, Solomon columns, and arches and shields. All of this transports us to another era; it is a place that tells stories, sincerely respects its long tradition, and fills the memory of all those who visit us night after night with unforgettable moments.

Tango Show

In addition to savoring exquisite dishes, El Querandí is the only tango hall that offers a show that proposes a journey through the history of tango in blocks of time, from its very beginnings of “Arrabal and Fandango” to the frenzy of “Piazzolla’s modernism”, passing through the unforgettable “Gardel and his tango song” and then the “golden age” with the great orchestras, their halls, and milongas. Thus is created an atmosphere of remembrances and vivid emotions that will undoubtedly endure in memory.

In short, that is what El Querandí is all about. It is not just a place; it is not just a show. It is an authentic tango experience because it has the magic and power to transport us to another era, precisely to the Buenos Aires at the beginning of the 20th century; with its magnificence and grandeur, with its historical significance, like what possesses the flavor and strength. As the poet pointed out, “that has the taste of what is lost, what is lost and recovered…” From there, it becomes an unparalleled framework to transmit and contain the culture of a country in its gastronomy and that of a city in its art: Tango.
